Hi girllls! I just had breakfast with my little babes and I’m back and feeling super energized today. I’m really excited to share today about a book and how it’s effected my life personally.
So if you guys have been reading along you know I am a sucker for personal development…like if I can always strive to be better why not? This means I’m pretty much a 24/7 guinea pig until something works…and then I love to report to you guys!
Today I wanted to talk to you about this fantastic book called Woman Code. It is a book about perfecting your cycle, amplifying your fertility, supercharging your sex drive and becoming a power source. I wholeheartedly believe with every ounce of my 5’7″ soul that in order to take care of others well, we have to take care of ourselves.
Because if your on empty, can you really give the quality attention you need to what’s important to you?
So I know we all look at our period as the devil itself, that annoying part of the month where we get a little crazy, super crampy and let’s not mention the tools we have to use to…ahem…clean up. After reading this book, it has given me an appreciation for our period and the author (who is a doctor) explains how beautiful our bodies are and all the working organisms that make us women. She goes into the 4 stages of our womanhood and how most importantly, it’s an elusive unicorn to think that you should feel the same through each stage.
Knowledge is power.
When you know better you do better. In Woman Code she talks about what happens in each stage in your body and emotionally and walks you through how to take care of yourself in those stages. I know personally, I have a massive energy drain and mood shift the last week or so before my period starts and there’s a reason behind that. The author goes as far as saying during this period you need to be doing minimal things…letting yourself and your body rest as much as possible. If you usually do HIIT…go do some yoga or pilates. If your usually go go go…try and stay home and just enjoy your loved ones some days.
She talks about our systems in our body and how to feed those so that they are functioning properly. She talks about how to know if your systems are not functioning properly…and that is an eyeopener. I cannot recommend this book more if you really want to up your health game, because I believe after learning so much about your body you will be inspired to treat it like a temple. I had been treating it like a garbage truck with a pop of temple on the side…can you relate?
So let’s talk about how this helped me lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks (and counting since of posted that on my Instagram)
When I had my surgery I was told I couldn’t workout for about 3 months. Knowing this combined with the knowledge I just learned from the book I decided to see how much weight I could lose using her tips. Yes, they are backed by science…but I’m never one to not investigate myself. Human guinea pig mode began.
Here’s what my meals looked like based on her recommendations.
BTW these recommendations were not to lose weight, her book is not a weight loss book…it was to get your body functioning properly again. I just figured I’d lose weight in the process.

Body Love Things I Did:
And let’s talk about sex.
I was not feeling it before guys. And I just chalked it up to being too tired, but she mentions in the book that’s actually false. When I began to put her advice into play, well let’s just say… me and the hubby are having fun 😉
Guys…that’s it! The author was spot on. She talked about how if you starting eating for the systems inside your body to function properly, you’d lose weight, you would use the bathroom regularly, your skin would clear up, your sex drive would come back and so much more.
Take care of body systems, your digestive system, your lymphatic system, reproductive system…it will all take care of you.
The funnest part besides obviously the weight loss, was beginning to recognize what stage my body is in, what to do and the science behind it. I plan to start incorporating a few days of working out when I’m able to. But I am so pleased with the book and how effective it is an truly taking care of yourself if you apply it.
Read the book girls and please, send me any book recs you love!
