You know that person who tells you to leave work and let them handle it? That person that says “Yeah no worries I’ll do all the work, you go have a drink with your fiancee, I got this!”
Yeah me neither. Not in the work sense, and I mean if you know someone like this tell them I am hiring!
But in the wedding world, there is someone who does that…and it’s a wedding planner.
Did you know 75% of brides with no wedding planner spend anywhere from 120-900 hours planning everything for their wedding?! To put it in perspective, that’s up to almost 38 days of your life spent just planning. Not even getting married!
But for me time is my currency. Time is my best friend and I am that girl who refuses to waste it. Time is precious. It’s more valuable than anything. It’s spent with my family making memories, creating content and art for my business. It’s spent listening to podcasts in a bubble bath and having drinks with my girlfriends.
Time is everything.
So these ladies are really experts in saving you time and efficiently creating your vision. I thought what better way to educate you guys on what wedding planning services can do for you, then asking a fabulous planner to write a guest post.
Today I wanted to introduce you to Courtney of Events by Courtney Ann. We have worked together on a few shoots and let me tell you, efficiency is her middle name. Saving me time is her game.
Without further ado:
There are so many opinions about whether hiring a wedding planner is beneficial or not and while I have always known how valuable it was to have one, it wasn’t until I began my career as one that I realized how many misconceptions there are and how truly instrumental planners can be. Therefore, I want to inform wedding couples about the value, importance and knowledge wedding planners provide and why their services are so invaluable.
THEY CAN ACTUALLY SAVE YOU MONEY
While a wedding planner can be one of the more expensive vendors that couples’ secure, they are also by far one of the most important (other than your photographer, of course). Your wedding planner is going to naturally help you stay within your budget and often with the right negotiating skills, can work with the other vendors to reduce costs without compromising the quality of service. Wedding planners also often receive industry and/or referral discounts that couples’ benefit from too, thus saving them even more money. These are tools and resources that wedding couples typically don’t have access to on their own….that being said, the cost of hiring a wedding planner could quite possibly pay for itself in the end!
ACCESS TO HIGHLY QUALIFIED VENDORS (SAVING YOURSELF HOURS AND HOURS OF TIME)
When couples begin their search for wedding vendors, most head straight to the web in pursuit of finding the most skilled and affordable vendors in their area. You can often end up with hundreds of results and reviews to filter through. One of the most valuable benefits of working with a wedding planner is the access that planners have to highly qualified vendors in the industry. Most wedding planners have firsthand knowledge working with the vendors and can confidently guarantee that they will provide quality service to the client. In doing so, couples save time and energy on having to research the vendors themselves.
INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
While wedding couples generally have somewhat of an idea of what they are looking for when trying to plan a wedding, most don’t realize just how intimidating the process can be….and through no fault of their own. Most people only attempt to (hopefully) plan one wedding in their lifetime so they shouldn’t be expected to know any differently. And unless you are the “Type A, perfectionist with a natural ability to plan” you will probably feel overwhelmed and stressed throughout the process. This is another reason why hiring a wedding planner is so helpful. Planners are familiar with industry standards and can provide guidance and expertise to the wedding couple throughout the process. Any questions or concerns that couples may have along the way they are able to turn to their planner for trusted recommendations.
DAY OF COORDINATION
Quite possibly the most important day of couples’ lives also requires someone with the experience and skillset to coordinate that special day. This is sometimes where couples tend to recruit the help of family and friends rather than pay a professional. While some couples luck out with having that Type A, perfectionist with a natural ability to plan” family member, most don’t. Not to mention, these people really don’t get the opportunity to enjoy themselves. But aside from that, there is far more that goes into coordinating the couples wedding day than being the point of contact or go to person. Typically, your day of coordinator is working with the venue and vendors well in advance of the wedding day, confirming logistics, handling vendor payments, and creating a timeline so that everyone and everything runs smoothly from start to finish. This may include the rehearsal, pre-ceremony, ceremony, reception and post reception. Things like centerpiece placement, décor set-up and clean up, seating assignments, gifts/cards and guestbook implementation are all items that your wedding planner and “built in” day of coordinator are responsible and sometimes get overlooked by wedding couples.
THE ABILITY TO KEEP CALM UNDER PRESSURE
For most couples, planning a wedding can be very stressful and throughout the process, certain circumstances may arise that require the couple to step out of their comfort zone and work through uncomfortable situations (vendor conflicts, inaccurate contracts, etc.). By hiring a wedding planner, you can avoid any issues and leave the problem solving to the planner. As a wedding couple, your focus should be on the more fun aspects of planning a wedding (dress shopping, cake tasting, planning your honeymoon) rather than dealing with the more demanding logistics involved. Your wedding planner will keep both the bride and groom calm and oversee the entire process; making sure that the couples’ requests and visions are heard and most importantly executed. As a wedding planner and newly married, I know just how important a wedding is and the service that couples receive from planners should be nothing short of amazing!
