On the 12th day of August, 2017 Sherry and Alex were married at a stunning garden venue The Heirloom Inn. As I rolled into the parking lot I let out a gasp, it was truly breathtaking. If you were ever obsessed with the book The Secret Garden, than I can tell you this was like the living version of it.
When Alex arrived she was all smiles, we quickly said hello as I wanted to let her have her time to look forward to the day before we started shooting. After photographing her bridal party, it was time for first looks and both women were grinning from ear to ear in anticipation of seeing their future wife.
As I watched Alex walk towards Sherry, with Sherry facing me she asked “is she close?” and I smiled and said not yet. I watched closely because even though Sherry was smiling as she waited to see her beautiful future wife in her gown, beneath that was a quiet excitement. This was really the moment, after this, they would walk down the aisle together and become Mrs. and Mrs.
It was very clear that they are the type of people who truly appreciate each and every person they come in contact with. When we shot our engagement session, they sent me a gift certificate to a delicious restaurant. They sent me their wedding invite and it was addressed to me specifically. During the wedding Sherry made sure to make a toast and thank the guests that came. She thanked them for their traveling to get there and made sure to tell them that each and every one had touched their lives in a special way. They ended up nixing family photos because they just wanted to spend time enjoying their day with their loved ones.
Under a darkening sky and golden lights draped everywhere, evening begun to set in. The historical brick house stood fast, a backdrop for all of the love it has been witness to. The two ladies swayed along with each other laughing and whispering during their first dance. Then in true Sherry and Alex style after a fun surprise they pulled everyone on to the dance floor to enjoy the moment with them. I’m quite sure they wouldn’t have it any other way, congrats you two!
