July 3, 2017
On the first day of July, 2017 Michael and Amber were married at Oakmont Golf Club in the beautiful Santa Rosa. When I first arrived to capture the beautiful bride-to-be, she was quiet. The quiet nervousness you get before you you are going to marry the love of your life.
Michael’s groomsman introduced the two in high school. He told Michael “She’s like a sister to me, you better not!” But obviously if you take one look at this woman you will see why Michael became quickly smitten. You see these two have gone to both proms together, high school sweethearts, and now 23 years young they are taking the next step hand in hand. They know what it’s like to grow together, through the ups and the downs, stronger with each year.
Amber is a phenomenal friend. You can tell because what struck me most was the type of women she was surrounded by. Every bridesmaid was tending to her, the women in her family were close by. Each was helping her with everything she needed and so genuinely happy to see her getting ready for one of the best moments in her life. As we moved outside to photograph the girls, they all followed her primping her, adjusting, helping with makeup, holding her dress or her hand. It’s such a beautiful thing to see women come together and truly take care of one another.
When we met with Michael he was very much busy making sure everybody was ok, everybody was comfortable, asking the vendors if they needed anything and to let him know. It’s obvious that he is a an extremely caring and thoughtful man, taking care of those around him comes naturally. But more than anything he was anxious and anticipating the moment he would get to see his future wife walk down that aisle. As I left to photograph the ceremony before the guests came, I glanced back and saw him surrounded by his groomsman. In just a few short moments, he would wait for her.
Under the wispy willow trees on a perfect 80 degree day, timeless classics started to dance through the air. Music that takes you back to another time. A perfect compliment to the moment that was about to come. As I watched Michael watch his bride approach, his face crumbled and he didn’t try to mask the pure joy that he felt when he saw her.
What struck me the most about their entire wedding was they way that they love each other. They love each other hard. They wrote their own vows with the cutest special nuances, like Michael promising that he would continue to call Amber every morning like he has done everyday since they were together. The way they both cried when they saw each other for the first time at the end of the aisle. The way they continued crying throughout the whole ceremony, the love and appreciation they have for one another is obvious.
This wedding was a fairytale for the books and I wish these two lovebirds so much love and a lifetime of happiness, but I don’t think they’ll need my best wishes at all. They have been, and I’m very sure will be, just fine.
